The reservoir had 2,853.41 feet water against the maximum level of 2,859 feet on Wednesday. The water level rose by two feet on a single day, with inflow of 4,184 cusec.

The catchment areas have received 3.3 mm of rain. The reservoir is short of 5.5 feet to fill up to the brim and may reach the maximum level in about two days if the rain continues.

Reservoir authorities have cautioned of releasing water in the event of any increase in the inflow.

However, rain relented in Shimoga district on Wednesday. Water levels in Linganamakki and Bhadra reservoirs went up by one foot on Wednesday. Lingamakki had water up to 1768.95 feet with an inflow of 18,773 cusec.
