At the State Cabinet meeting in Bangalore on Tuesday, several ministers are said to have impressed upon the CM to speak in Kannada at the function. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Karunanidhi, who is scheduled to unveil the statue of Tiruvalluvar in Bangalore on August 9, is likely to address the gathering in Tamil.

Earlier in the day, Home Minister V S Acharya held a preliminary meeting with Chief Secretary, BBMP Commissioner, Bangalore City Police Commissioner and other officers, to discuss the logistics and security arrangements for the function. Police bandobast in and around Ulsoor is likely to be enhanced in the next few days in wake of the threat by pro-Kannada organisations to disrupt the function.

Meanwhile, representatives of various Tamil organisations, including Bangalore Tamil Sangham, met the CM and thanked him for decision to unveil the Tiruvalluvar statue.

Karunanidhi invited

Yeddyurappa formally extended an invitation to Karunanidhi for the function to unveil Tiruvalluvar statue in Bangalore.

Karunanidi too has extended an invitation to Yeddyurappa for a function to unveil Sarvajna statue at Ayanavaram park.
