Last Updated 04 August 2009, 19:15 IST

At a presentation here, BMTC Managing Director Syed Zameer Pasha said  passengers prefer to go to Majestic and this only adds to the problem of the already congested KBS. “To seek an expert opinion on ways and means to decongest the bus station and introduce point-to-point travel, we have commissioned the study to a consultant to analyse passenger preferences. The report is expected in two to four weeks’ time.”

He said that the corporation will construct 24 bus depots in the next three years.  “Our plan is to have 600 buses by this year end and 10,000 buses in operation by 2011-12, so that the public can switch over to BMTC for travel. Our monthly pass sales have increased from 1.5 lakh to 2.5 lakhs, while daily pass sales have gone up from 60,000 to 1.7 lakhs. A recent report card by Public Affairs Centre, has rated 96 percent citizens’ satisfaction on BMTC services” he said.
