Whistle-blower girl involved in drug trade: Goa minister

Last Updated 10 August 2011, 14:54 IST

"One Roy D'Souza has given a statement to the police that Lucky Farmhouse herself sold drugs," Naik said. The Minister's own son, Roy, is alleged to be involved in the drug trade.

Talking to reporters here, Naik said that Police had recorded Roy D'Souza's statement and were conducting further probe. But he refused to say who Roy D'Souza was. The Congress minister had earlier claimed that his son was being mistaken for Roy Fernandes, a personal assistant to another minister.

Lucky Farmhouse, former girlfriend of Israeli drug peddler Yaniv Benaim alias Atala, had exposed the policemen's links with drug trade, which had led to arrest of seven police personnel.

Naik today alleged that some politicians were trying to malign his image, which had led to the allegations against his son, Roy.

"There was news some time back that my elder son, Ritesh was involved in illegal mining. Now everyone knows that it was a case of mistaken identity," the Home minister added. CBI is investigating the case, and has contacted Farmhouse, who has agreed to give her statement.
