A bench of justices Dalveer Bhandari and Deepak Verma, however, did not say anything on her apprehension to security, leaving it to the trial court to decide.
In response to the apex court’s direction, senior counsel Harish Salve said Jayalalitha was ready to appear before the trial court.
The court on September 5 said Jayalalitha was delaying the proceedings and rejected her plea for exemption from appearance before the trial court to record her statement in the case relating to possession of assets worth Rs 66 crore disproportionate to her known sources of income between 1991 and 1996.
