There was a festive fervour in the air as a beautiful and intricately decorated pookalam’ adorned the entrance of the college.

The celebration highlighted the many elements of Kerala’s culture and tradition. An elaborate lunch complete with banana chips and payasam was prepared by the students. In addition to it, many games were organised where the students and staff competed against each other.

Said Robin, a student of fifth semester BBM, “We are happy that we got an opportunity to celebrate Onam and showcase our culture. Everyone turned up in ethnic wear and the events were celebrated in a grand and colourful manner. The ona sadhya (feast) was a very tasty affair with 15 different items to enrich and tickle our taste buds.”

While Reshma, a student of first semester BBM, said, “On Thiruvonam, we believe that king Mahabali will come to visit every house and meet his people. We celebrate it in a special manner decorating our homes with pookalams to welcome Mahabali, the king. This is also festival of Kerala’s rice harvest and rain flowers, which falls in the month of Chingam.”
