Residents asked to keep villages clean

They should not wait till the gram panchayat took measures, said MLA N H Shivashankara Reddy.
He was speaking at a programme organised as part of the seven-day special NSS camp by D Palya Government Pre-University College at Yarraganahalli and Middilu villages of Gowribidnur taluk.

The MLA said the awareness camps provide an excellent opportunities for the students to know about the prevailing conditions in various villages. It also helps them to emulate qualities like discipline, co-operation, leadership, sacrifice and service. The good works implemented by the students should be monitored and maintained by the residents further. The residents should also realise the importance of cleanliness and hygiene which will go a long way in maintaining their health.

Zilla Panchayat member Raghavendra Hanuman said taking part in the NSS activities help students mould their personality. The programme promises to encourage leadership qualities among the students, apart from patriotism and service-orientation. Along with academics, the students will also be exposed to philosophy, religion, patriotism and extra-curricular activities, he said.

Vice-President of the College Development Committee Shriramareddy and Treasurer D Narasimhaiah were felicitated on the occasion. Principal Gangadhar, camp co-ordinator Manjunath, lecturers Nagaraj, Harish Babu and several others were present on the occasion.
