Seminar on quota on Nov 13

Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, Karnataka Dalit Employees Federation State General Secretary J Srinivasalu informed that All India Confederation of SC/ST Organizations President Dr Udit Raj will take part in the conference. Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (Prof. Krishnappa group) State Coordinator Satyabhadravathi and other office bearers will participate in the conference, he added.

He said the governments, both Central and State have not taken any substantial actions for the development of SC and ST communities. The dignity of empowerment and employment would have gone up if the right of reservations in private sectors had been achieved.

If the gains of reservation in politics and services are kept aside, Dalits and tribal have hardly any participation in industries, trade, higher education, media, art, judiciary, culture and land.

In the year 2000, the strength of employees in Central and State government belonging to SC and ST Communities was about 40 lakhs and now it has come down to 27 lakhs.

Increased workload is being outsourced and businessmen are making wealth, he added.
He demanded immediate ban on contract system in cleaning work and time bound promotions. The caste certificate issued in one state should be valid in other states also, he said.
