Addressing a news conference here on Thursday, Jeppinamogaru Corporator J Nagendra Kumar said that the pipe is adding to the woes of the fishermen who find it difficult to travel as the pipe blocks their way in river.

No one knows much information about the pipe and even under RTI, the City Corporation has failed to give a response.

Though orders have been passed by the District-in-Charge Minister and the District Administration and City Corporation to stop the pipe attaching work, the work is still continuing day and night.

According to some sources, it is found that the work is being implemented by an Ahemdabad based company for MSEZ.

There is a fear that waste and hazardous materials are released into the sea causing damage to the sea life.

In case the district administration does not stop this menace, then a massive protest will be held, warned the residents of Jeppinamogaru.

Kumar also alleged that the sand miners have leased the artificial sand bed created by them (sand minors) to MSEZ pipeline laying firm for a sum of Rs 50,000.
