Govt should convince lecturers: JDU

Last Updated 14 December 2011, 18:01 IST

Handing over a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner D K Rangaswamy on Tuesday, JDU President K Bharat said that the lecturers have been on strike since a week now and because of this the classes are getting affected.“If the teachers are not asked to get back to their respective colleges then students and parents will start a protest,” he said adding that the Government should consider the demands of the teachers and revise their salary at the earliest.

“The protests will not affect the children of the rich and the elite because they will arrange for private tuitions at home. The economically backward students will be at loss,” he said adding that Government must guide the teachers properly and convince them to get back to their classes.

Bharat said that if unaided college teachers give tuitions it is justified but it is incorrect on the part of the government college lecturers to give private tuitions at home after drawing salary from the Government.

“These lecturers should be identified and suspended from duty immediately,” he said.
