Trader robbed of Rs 20 lakh

They took away his bag containing Rs 20 lakh in cash and demand drafts worth Rs five  lakh.
Gagan Kapoor, a resident of New Layalpur at Chander Nagar in east Delhi, was on his way to office at Shambhunath at Gandhi Nagar on Sunday morning.

Kapoor operates a garment-sticker business and usually carries around worth Rs four  lakh to Rs five lakh in cash. He had to clear payments on Sunday and he was carrying more money than usual.

“Kapoor left his house on a scooter and was headed for his office. When he reached Govind Venkat Gali in Geeta Colony at about 11 am, two men on a motorcycle came close to his scooter and kicked it.

When Kapoor fell down, they snatched his bag containing Rs 20 lakh and demand drafts worth Rs five lakh.

“When he protested, one of them brandished a knife to intimidate him,” said a senior police officer.

A police constable, who immediately arrived at the spot on his motorcycle, chased the culprits, but they made good their escape.

A case has been registered and the police are investigating the matter.

“The assailants were aware that Kapoor had a huge sum of money with him. We have launched a manhunt to apprehend the m,” the officer added.
