The forest department managed to catch her with the help of tranquillisers but she died in an unconscious state.

The incident has sparked off a row yet again over the hazards of elephant rides at the most prominent tourist spot in the city. Maina, bearing number 108 was on its routine journey to the Amber Fort on Sunday ferrying two German tourists when it reportedly ran amok. After covering some distance, it went wild and started shrieking. It ran in the opposite direction, frightening passerby tourists, hitting light columns and even damaging walls of some houses.
