BJP State President K S Eshwarappa utilised the Bangalore city executive meeting as a forum to criticise those after positions in the party.

The BJP always considered the country first, party second and individuals last, he said.

Though the BJP State president did not name anybody, it was apparent that he was indirectly taking potshots at former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.

“The person who understands this concept is the real worker of the party,” he said.
Though Eshwarappa and Yeddyurappa had never been on good terms, their relationship got worse after the latter started flexing his muscles demanding that he be reinstated as chief minister. The RSS intervened last week, made the duo  sit across the table and told them to bury their differences.

Tumkur convention
Later speaking to reporters, Eshwarappa tried to play down the state-wide tour taken up by Yeddyurappa.

“He is visiting some districts on the invitation of a few legislators,” he said. Eshwarappa said he had no information about the massive Tumkur convention being organised this week by MLA Suresh Gowda, a staunch supporter of Yeddyurappa.
“Yeddyurappa has been invited to inaugurate projects launched during his tenure as chief minister. There is no need to read much into it,” he said.

Notice to Shivappa
He said a showcause notice has been served on former party president B B Shivappa for indulging in anti-party activities. Shivappa has been given seven days to replace. The sustained campaign to reinstate Yeddyurappa as the chief minister has drawn strong opposition from senior BJP leader B B Shivappa. Shivappa has sought expulsion of Yeddyurappa from the party.

Bypoll
Eshwarappa said the party will finalise its candidate to contest the bypoll for the Udupi-Chikamagalur Lok Sabha constituency in a couple of days. The bypoll has been necessitated following Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda vacating the seat following his election to the Legislative Council.
