Murdered man's brother arrested

Police claimed to have solved a blind murder case on Tuesday with the arrest of the victim’s brother and his friend.

Sohan Singh was brutally murdered on February 3 at Bhatolian village. Hoshiarpur SSP Balkar Singh Sidhu said the deceased’s brother Kuldip Singh and his friend Jagmanpreet Singh were arrested.

Kuldip, 25, told police that he along with his brother Sohan had gone to village Bhunga on a motorcycle for withdrawing some money from a Punjab National Bank ATM on the evening of February 3.

When their attempt to withdraw money remained unsuccessful, they returned to their village.

On the way back, when they reached near Bhatolian, two persons suddenly appeared before them on a motorcycle and inquired the way to village Mastiwal. One of the youths assaulted them with a baseball bat and both were injured.

His brother later succumbed on the way to hopital in Ludhiana.

During investigations, police became suspicious of Kuldip and got details of his mobile phone calls. Kuldip confessed to the murder.

Police said they are trying to find out whether more suspects were involved in the crime, although the case has been considered closed.
