Department of Religious Endowment Commissioner B N Krishnaiah expressed displeasure over slow progress of work pertaining to infrastructure development in Kukke Subrahmanya temple.

He said that an action plan of Rs 180 crore was chalked out to provide basic facilities in Subrahmanya. The government had released  Rs 60 crore. However only work worth Rs 27.37 crore has been completed so far.

Speaking at a review meeting, he said the master plan was prepared to use fund available in the temple. The work order was given in 2009. The work should have been completed by 2011 itself.

The Commissioner said that the work should be completed by May 30, this year.

PWD Superintending Engineer Balakrishna said that there is need for 1,500 workers to complete the work within the deadline. “We can provide facility for only 600 labourers. There will be problem over stay of remaining labourers,” he said.

Responding to the same, DC Dr Channappa Gowda said that facilities would be provided for stay of the labourers.

The Commissioner urged the contractors to send a regular fax on the progress of  daily work. The PWD engineer should send report on the work every week.

The work on parking should also be completed at the earliest, said the Commissioner.

He directed Karnataka Urban Water Supply Board engineer to keep in mind Subrahmanya Gram Panchayat while preparing a plan for the UGD work. Information on the UGD work should be provided to the Gram Panchayat and the elected representatives.

Assistant Commissioner Sundar Bhat, Tahsildar Vaidyanath and Executive Engineer Gopal Nayak and others were present.
