'TP to appeal against transfer of land'

Members had raised objections in the panchayat meet, which was chaired by President H J Kariappa, for transfering the RTC of the land to a community without the knowledge of the elected body. Member D K Thimmappa demanded that the land, which is worth crores of rupees, should be reserved for development purpose. Legal battle should be commenced to recover the land, he added.

Members V N Mahesh, Abdul Khader and Joseph Victor Soans suggested that initiatives should taken to solve the issue amicably.
Legal advisor R K Nagendra Babu said that officials and members had not given opportunity to forge RTC. Legal battle with regard to disputed land can be initiated only if documents were produced, he added.

Meanwhile some members suggested that a decision can be taken whether panchayat should fight legally or not only after verifying documents.
