More than 200 queries were sent to the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad, about various doubts on the CAT 2009 registration procedure.

In their confusion about the new system of CAT, students have made wrong selections or other errors while filling the computer based application. This has forced many of them to purchase vouchers for the second time. Taking into account the kind of mistakes committed by candidates during registration, the CAT board has announced the edit option and application data beginning from September 18 till October 8, 2009.

Hasty way

Prof Satish Deodar, Convenor, CAT-2009, said, “Candidates have not taken time to read the CATIIM website which clearly provides instructions on how to fill the computer based applications. But on the first day of the registration, candidates rushed to procure vouchers and for the registration. Many have not filled certain options and some candidates have filled the wrong options”. However the hasty way of filling in applications led many students to purchase CAT 2009 vouchers for the second time. Prof Deodar, said “Candidates who have bought vouchers for second time will be re-imbursed for the same. The edit options can be made use to correct the mistakes in the applications”.

‘Read carefully’

The Convener pointed out that in the CATIIM website, an option is made available where one can take a print of each section of the application form and then can be meticously filled before registering the same details online.

Prof Deodar insisted that candidates should read the website carefully.
