Top seeds Mithun Manjunath and Amogh Gupta clinched the boys’ under-15 and under-13 titles respectively in the Hollyhock 3-Star State-ranking badminton tournament at the KBA courts here on Monday.

Mithun of White Peacock Badminton Association outclassed team-mate and doubles partner Raghu M 21-5, 21-6 in the under-15 final while Amogh, who trains at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Association, overcame his club-mate Shantanu B S, seeded second here, 21-18, 21-19 in the under-13 summit clash.

Mithun then completed a memorable double by teaming up with Raghu, prevailing over Gulbarga pair Abhishek Sonarkar and Rohit Haibatti 21-19, 21-12.

In the girls’ section, Shikha Gautam and Mithula UK claimed twin titles each. Eighth seed Shikha Gautam of PPBA pulled off an upset victory in the under-15 final, shocking team-mate and second seed Mahima Aggarwal 21-19, 20-22, 21-18. Shikha and Mahima defeated top seeds Apeksha Nayak and Archana Pai of PPBA 21-9, 21-12 in the doubles final.

Top seed in the girls’ under-13 category, Mithula eased past second seed Trisha Hegde of INC 21-11, 21-11 in the singles final before the PPBA shuttler combined with Prarthana Anand to score a comfortable 21-18, 21-9 win over sixth seeded pair Aadya Variyath and Richa Muktibodh.
