CB Pur ZP members sceptical of progress report

Last Updated 16 August 2012, 18:51 IST

The Zilla Panchayat members were reluctant to believe the numbers doled out by the officials during the progress review meeting held on Thursday.

Throughout the meeting, the officials claimed that the detailed furnished by them were true and the real facts, while the members refused to believe them.

Even as some members attempted to take officials to task, the chief executive officer and the president were intervening to pacify the agitated members.

The pattern was the same as representatives of every department furnished the progress report.

‘Power’ful opposition

The proposal of the ZP president M V Krishnappa on entrusting installation of solar lamps to Karnataka Land Army was opposed vehemently in the meeting.

The members said the Karnataka Land Army could only construct buildings but was not permitted to install solar lights. They said the proposal could be taken forward only if it was substantiated through documents that the agency can take up the work.

The issue related to maintenance of office buildings too met a similar fate. When chief executive officer B S Shekharappa raised the issue, the members sought a detailed estimate concerning maintenence expenses.

The meeting deliberated on appointment of doctors and other staff to the district hospital, providing desk and other furniture to schools and other issues.

Zilla Panchayat vice president B Savithramma, members Amaravathi Krishnappa, N Manjula Venkatesh and others were present.
