Court watches trap video

 The Lokayukta Special Court on Saturday watched a video record of the trap laid by the Lokayukta police to arrest L Govindaraju, Ganesh Mandir corporator, at his residence in July, 2010.

Judge N K Sudhindra Rao watched the video and heard the audio recording of the corporator allegedly seeking bribe from a contractor.

The Congress corporator had allegedly demanded Rs eight lakh from Udaya Kumar, a contractor, to regularise building plan violations in construction of an apartment complex in Katriguppe.

Kumar, in his complaint to the Lokayukta, alleged that he had given Rs two lakh and Govindaraju had demanded Rs three lakh more.

The court on Saturday also directed questions to Govindraju, as the prosecution case drew almost to a close. The matter has been posted to October 12.
