Free laptops to rural students: Sriramulu

Badavara Shramikara Raithara (BSR) Congress chief B Sriramulu on Saturday promised free education to youth, irrespective of their caste, if the party was voted to power in the next Assembly elections.

Speaking to mediapersons after inaugurating the Swabimani Yuva Sandesha Abiyana organised by the party in the City, he said the party would give free laptops to rural students who pass the SSLC examination.

Just because they cannot afford computers they should not be allowed to lag behind in computer education, he said. “I shall earmark 25 per cent in the State budget for youth, if my party comes to power,” Sriramulu said.

He blamed both Congress and BJP for politicising the Cauvery issue.

“Being national parties, they do not want to find a solution to the issue. Instead they want to cash in on the crisis for political gains,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Sriramulu paid tributes at Raj Kumar Samadhi and Vishnuvardhan Samadhi.
