While two flour mills at Hirehalli village in Byadgi taluk of the district had indulged in power theft by drilling a hole on the meter and inserting stick to stop meter recording, the other flour mill at Kummur village in the same taluk had bypassed the meter, and thus committed power theft.
The flour mills at Hirehalli village have been slapped with a penalty of Rs 2,73,215 whereas the flour mill at Kummur village has to pay Rs 1,25,156 as penalty. All the three flour mills face criminal cases. IGP (Vigilance and Enforcement) has warned of serious action against those indulging in theft, pilferage and misuse of power in the State.
