A day after a young woman was raped in a moving bus, Delhi Police arrested three men involved in the crime.

The three accused - driver Ram Singh, his brother Mukesh, and bus helper Kallu - live in the Ravi Das Camp slum near RK Puram in south Delhi.

Police are conducting raids to nab the remaining accused.

Police said the act was carried out by ‘sadists’, who not only took turns to rape but also brutally beat up the victim. They mercilessly beat up the victim’s 28-year-old boyfriend when he protested against the lewd comments passed on them.

The victim’s boyfriend, who works in HCL in Gurgaon and lives in Ber Sarai, said in his statement that one of the accused, named Sonu, was the leader of the group and it was he who first raped her.

“They were all under the influence of alcohol. He resisted and fought but was overpowered by the eight men, including the driver.

They pinned him down after beating him with iron rods and took the girl to the driver’s cabin, where they raped and beat her up brutally,” said a police officer, adding it was an ‘animalistic act’.

Police impounded the white colour chartered bus from Noida, going by the description given by the victims.

“It has a label of Yadav Travels on its right, and blue and green stripes. The tyres have silver rims and the seat covers are red. The bus has yellow curtains,” said a police officer.
They are looking for the other accused present in the bus on Sunday night.

“We have clues and a hunt is on for the rest. The case will be cracked in the next 24 hours,” the officer added.
