BSY promises to adopt Shidlaghatta constituency

KJP president takes a dig at former CMs for poor state of affairs

Karnataka Janata Party president B S Yeddyurappa has promised to adopt Shidlaghatta Assembly costituency which is lagging behind in every aspect of development and make it a model constituency.

He was addressing a gathering at the party convention at Nehru auditorium in the town on Sunday. The Assembly constituency has carved its niche for itself in sericulture sector in the State but lacks basic infrastructure. “I will strive to improve the lives of sericulturists and the sericulture industry as a priority,” he added.

The Assembly segment is facing severe water crisis and it is high time that permanent drinking water project is implemented. “During my tenure as chief minister, I had earmarked Rs 200 crore for the project. But I was made to step down and the project is kept on the back burner,” he added.

On the occasion, he inaugurated Balagangadharanatha swami free drinking water unit and also unveiled the statues of B R Ambedkar and Avula Reddy.

Budgets are manifestoes

After he stepped down as chief minister, the State has come down to 13th position from the second place in development, remarked former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.

At the KJP convention here, he said chief ministers who will present the budget will in reality present a poll manifesto. The promises made in them never will see light of the day, he said.

He criticised that many welfare programmes such as pensions to senior citizens, widows and even Bhagya Lakshmi schemes — implemented during my term — are not getting enough support by the present government.

These projects have suffered badly, he added.  Adichunchanagiri branch mutt head Siddeshwaranatha swami, KJP leaders Shivakumara Gowda and Nandish were present.
