Fish stalls to go fancy; get a touch of art

The city will now have new stalls of Karnataka State Cooperative Fisheries Federation in remodelled shape of a ‘fish’ and the first one will be inaugurated on February 9 on Kukkarahalli lake premises.

The ‘matsya darshini’ stall is built with metal sheet of 1.4 mm thick and 1.25 inch thick 16 gauge pipes by artist Prakash Chikkapalya. The design includes refrigerator in front part of the fish (near mouth) and kitchen will be at the tail part.

Madegowda in the press meet, said, many varieties of fishes will be available along with ready to eat products and also cleaned fishes.

All the fish stalls of the federation in the city and also district will be replaced with new models which also aims to provide hygienic products.  As many as 100 such stalls across district has been planned which will have stalls on Mysore- Bangalore highway and Mysore-Madikeri road, he added.

He stated that each store will cost between Rs three lakh and Rs 4.5 lakh based on its area.

Artist Prakash said, three such models are ready and within a month another 12 will be ready to be set up in different parts of the district. Soon after the inauguration at Kukkarahalli lake, another will be opened near Vivekananda circle.

Aravind Jannu, general secretary to the government, animal husbandry and fisheries department will inaugurate the stall, vice-chancellor of University of Mysore K S Rangappa will be guest, director of fisheries H S Veerappa Gowda  will be present.
