Administrators for ULBs

The State government has started the process of appointing administrators to urban local bodies (ULB) which have completed their five-year tenure.

On Sunday, the tenure of seven ULBs came to an end. So far, the government has appointed administrators in 15 ULBs. In all, the tenure of 187 ULBs will end this month.
The State Election Commission and the State legislature are in conflict over holding immediate elections to ULBs.

While politicians cutting across party lines want the elections deferred till the 2011 population figures are published, the State Election Commission has sought to conduct the polls by following the 2007 reservation pattern.
