JOIN USA 40-year-old truck driver has been arrested for crushing his teenaged son to death at south Delhi’s Pulprahladpur on Saturday.
According to police, 18-year-old Mosam Ahmad, a resident of Railway Colony at Tughlakabad, was standing in front of his father Meeraj’s truck when the incident occurred at around 5.15 am.
“The truck was parked at Maa Anandmai Marg. Meeraj was sitting on the driver’s seat, while Mosam was standing in front of the vehicle,” a police officer said.
It is alleged that Meeraj accidentally drove the truck with Mosam still standing in front. “The teenager came under the rear wheel of the truck,” the officer added.
The incident was witnessed by staff of a police control room van, who rushed to the spot. They dragged Mosam from under the truck where he was lying in a pool of blood.
He was transported to ESI Hospital with a head injury and was later shifted to AIIMS Trauma Centre.
“The head injury proved fatal with doctors pronouncing him dead on admission at AIIMS Trauma Centre,” the officer said.
A case under sections 304 A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving) was lodged with Pulprahladpur police station against Meeraj.
He was arrested and later released on bail. Speeding truck kills one
In another incident, a person was killed and another injured when they were hit by a speeding truck in west Delhi’s Nangloi on Saturday.
