The chaos at the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) office had visibly reduced on Saturday, after two days of confusion over payment of fees and allotment of seats.

As on Saturday, the KEA recorded as many as 55,570 candidates having paid the fees for admissions based on the seats secured in the first round of counselling. Of these, 7,654 SC/ST candidates had secured their admission orders.

About 6,275 candidates were yet to confirm their admissions.
There were a few incomplete transactions in the admission procedure too, owing to mistakes in details entered by students at the time of payment of fees. This would be resolved by Sunday, officials at KEA said.

Decision today

With regard to extension of dates for payment of fees, the KEA is likely to take a decision on Sunday.

Officials said students could take part in the second round of counselling, even if they did not pay the fee right now for the seats they have secured. Those who have paid the fees without joining the college yet will be able to retain the seat, while participating in the round and can weigh their options after allotment of seats in the second round.

If they are not pleased with the seat secured by them in second round of counselling, they can retain the seat allotted to them in the first round. If they wish to choose the seat allotted in round two, their seat in first round will be cancelled. Those who have not paid the fees will also be able to participate in the second round. Their seat in the first round of counselling will be immediately cancelled, explained KEA officials, clearing the confusion of parents in this regard.

The Comed-K engineering counselling continued on Saturday too. As many as 598 seats were allotted by the end of the day.
