This would-be big, fat wedding has been a hot topic for weeks in the country’s entertainment industry.

Though there is ‘confirmation’ of the November 22 date for the ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anadi’ girl Shilpa Shetty, to tie the knot with businessman Raj Kundra, there seems to be very little that her relatives back home (ancestral) know about this much-awaited wedding. In Mumbai, Shilpa’s parents might be busy making arrangements for the big day, which all reports suggest would take place in Khandala, not far from the tinsel town. However, in Mudaladi (a village about 25 km from here near Kateel), from where Shilpa’s mother Sunanda Shetty hails, their close relatives are still waiting for invitations.

“We are yet to receive an invitation for the wedding. Some say it is on November 22 while others say it is on December 22. No matter when it is scheduled, we are wondering if we should be going to Mumbai for the ceremony,” said one of the close family members of the Shettys.

No confirmation

Indeed, they do not even have any information about Shilpa’s engagement ceremony — if indeed a formal one had taken place.

No, they are not angry they have been kept in the dark about the wedding plans.
They have other, more pressing problems to attend to: Heavy rains in the recent past have destroyed their crop that is the only source of their income.
The relatives are very reluctant to even talk about the wedding.
They said a recent media report, purportedly based on their conversation with mediapersons, had upset the Shettys. “They have asked us not to get into such hassles.”
