<p>Two newlywed women were found dead in separate incidents in the City since Monday evening.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Nineteen-year-old Vidyashree, married to Nagaraj, an employee of a private company five months ago, was found hanging in her house in Sunkadakallupalya ner Uttarahalli. Vidyashree, was the only daughter of Shivanna from a village near Maddur in Mandya district.<br /><br />Nagaraj, in his statement to police, has said that his wife was found hanging in their bedroom at around 6.30 pm on Monday. She was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital, but was declared brought dead.<br /><br /> However, Shivanna, in his statement to the police and the tahsildar has alleged that Nagaraj and his mother were harassing Vidyashree for dowry. He claimed that his daughter was strangulated to death and later hanged by Nagaraj and his family members.<br /><br />The Kumbalagodu police have registered a case under Dowry Prohibition Act. Nagaraj and his parents have been arrested.<br /><br />In another case, Pratima (35), married for eight months to Vasanth Kumar, was found hanging in her house in Suprajanagar, Konanakunte Cross on Tuesday morning. Hailing from Maddur in Mandya district, Pratima was working for a bank as a contract employee.<br /><br />According to sources, Pratima’s family had lied about her age to Vasanth Kumar’s family. However, it came to light that Pratima was one year older to her husband and soon there were differences between the couple over the issue. It is said that Kumar chided Pratima for lying, on Monday night. Kumar’s father found her hanging from the ceiling fan on Tuesday morning. <br /><br />Police said that Pratima, in a purported death note, has stated that she was depressed over the fact that she was elder to her husband and that no one was responsible for her death. She was the last of the four daughters of Ramegowda.<br />Subramanyapura police have registered a case.<br /></p>
