<p>Yet another Karan Johar’s film joins his K-club. But hang on; this one is not like typical KJo’s romantic hits such as ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’, ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’ and real life couple Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan share reel love in ‘Kurbaan’, a film based on the burning topic of terrorism.<br /><br />Avantika (Kareena Kapoor) arrives in Delhi from the US. She meets Ehsaan (Saif Ali Khan), a lecturer of Islamic studies in the university. Avantika also joins the university as a professor and the love story begins. After marriage, the couple decides to settle in the US. <br /><br />After coming to New York, Avantika becomes witness to some terrorist operations in her neighbourhood headed by a Muslim fundamentalist Bhaijaan (Om Puri) and thereby comes to know the real identity of her husband - a hardcore terrorist who has deadly plans to attack the Americans. <br /><br />With the help of TV journalist Riyaaz (Vivek Oberoi), Avantika tries to stop the attacks.<br />‘Kurbaan’ has nothing new to say. But the most important aspect of the film is it does not take sides. It takes a neutral stand on terrorism, holding both the Muslim countries and the US equally responsible for the menace. Songs have already gained popularity as well as Kareena’s bare back poster already sparking controversy in some parts of the country. Kareena and Saif’s chemistry is the highlight of the film. Vivek Oberoi is good in his lead-cum-supporting actor role. Debutant director Renil D’Silva is impressive.</p>
