JOIN USA total of 117 candidates from different parts of Dakshina Kannada district were selected by private firms, at the job fair, organised by the Human Resource Development Centre in Mangalore on Monday.
A total of 564 aspirants had registered for the fair. Though 183 aspirants were shortlisted, only 117 aspirants have been selected in the final round.
Thirteen companies based in Udupi and Mangalore interviewed the candidates and recruited them for various vacant posts in their establishments.
The PVR Cinemas to be opened at Forum Mall offered a salary package of Rs 18,000 per month while Mukka Sea food had offered Rs 15,000 per month to the selected candidates.
Hotel Fortune In Valley, Universe Show Room, Muthoot Fin Corporation, ING Bank, Shantha Electronics, Big Bazaar, Pantaloons, Winman Software were among private firms that had taken part in the job fair.
The majority of candidates were from Diploma and ITI background. Fourty engineering students, 30 M.Com and M Sc graduates attended the interview, said district Human Resource Development centre Manager Rithesh.
“Sometimes, government job opportunities will be available for those registered at the centre on the basis of seniority. In 2012-13, 18 persons who had registered at the Centre were selected for various government jobs. A few have been selected as D group employee in NMPT and MRPL.”
Ashwini from Kankanady, who participated in the job fair, said her dream of working in Mangalore has been fulfilled as she was recruited as Sales Executive by the Universe Show room.
How to register?
Students having an educational qualification of SSLC to graduation may register themselves at the Human Resource Development Centre, Mangalore City Corporation Building in Lalbhag between 10 am to 1 pm.
Post graduate students may register their names at the Information centre at Mangalore University, Mangalagangothri.
The Human Resource Development Centre has plans to conduct job fairs once in three months in future. The last job fair was held during November -2013.
