Aflame youth who embraced BSP leader dies

The youth who embraced a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader after setting himself ablaze during a television debate in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur town died at a hospital here late on Monday.

Durgesh, a native of Mau district, sustained severe burn injuries and was admitted to a hospital in the state capital. The BSP leader, Kamruzzma Fauji, was said to be in a critical condition.

Durgesh had poured petrol over his body and set himself ablaze at the programme that was held in a park. Before any one could react, he rushed toward the BSP leader and held him in a tight embrace. The other participants rushed to separate them but it was too late.
