Hop on 'Bangalore Round' for a day's City tour

If you wish to visit tourist spots in the City in a day, without having to bother about changing buses from one place to another, Bangalore Round-Hop On Hop Off Bus service is just the right choice for you.

The service, inaugurated on Friday by Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, will take visitors around 20 tourist spots, including temples, parks, shopping malls and historic landmarks.

 A fleet of seven luxury Volvo buses was flagged off on Friday for visitors and residents wishing to taking a ride to peek into the cultural past and present of Bangalore. 

The buses will ply on all days of the week between 8.30 am and 10 pm. Commuters can catch buses from any of the 20 designated tourist spots. They will run every 30 to 45 minutes.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, State Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, said, “We have initially employed seven buses. The increase in the number will depend on the response we get. The service lets tourists pick locations and time, since the round trip ticket provides unlimited travel between places on the itinerary.”

 The tickets for the bus is priced at Rs 250 for adults and Rs 150 for children (six to 12 years of age). 

Interestingly, the same ticket could also be used on the same day in any other BMTC buses  except Vayu Vajra services. Each of the seven buses will make four rounds in a day.  

The route

Kempe Gowda Bus Station, Tipu Sultan’s Palace, Bull Temple/ Ganapathi Temple, Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple, Lalbagh Botanical Gardens, Freedom Park, Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, Vidhana Soudha, Cubbon Park, UB City, Sir M Visvesvarya Museum/ Venkatappa Art Gallery/ Bal Bhavan, MG Road Metro Station, Bangalore Central Mall, Garuda Mall, Gurudwara, Halasuru Lake, MEG Center, Commercial Street, St Mary’s Basilica, Fun World/ Snow City, Lumbini Gardens, Iskcon Temple, Orion Mall, Sankey Tank and Mantri Square are the places that will be shown during the tour.
