Last Updated 19 June 2014, 19:56 IST

Karnataka State Tax Advocates’ Association, on Thursday, opposed the recent notification  by Commissioner for Commercial Taxes wherein it has been made mandatory for all traders having annual turnover of Rs 50 lakh to upload their sales transaction on the official website.

Briefing reporters, Association President S K Nath, said it is an impossible task for most traders as they have more than 1,000 invoices every month and it is not possible to get them scanned and uploaded  on the website.

‘Start with companies’

Nath said if such a move has to be started, it should be first for public limited companies and manufacturing units having turnover of over Rs 20 crore. He said many traders are not computer literate and will have to invest in a set up and then hire one to do the job.In the past, these details were provided by hand and there was no requirement to be sent online.

Already many traders opposing the move have submitted memoranda to the commissioner to re-look into the matter, he added.
