<p>Two engineering students were flung into the air and killed instantly as their bike rammed a speed-breaker in Banashankari traffic police limits in the early hours of Thursday, the police said.<br /><br /></p>.<p> Two more students on another bike, which collided with the speed-breaker, sustained injuries. <br /><br />The victims were identified as Anijit Jha and Ankit, both 20. The injured, Shashwat and Anand Gupta, both 20, are being treated at a private hospital and said to be out of danger. <br /><br />All the four were first-year BE (Information Science) students at Dayananda Sagar Engineering College in Kumaraswamy Layout, said the police. The students were drunk and driving recklessly when the accident occurred, they added. <br /><br />Accident timeline <br /><br />A common friend of the students had recently bought a Bajaj Pulsar and hosted a party on Wednesday. The party went on till early hours of Thursday. They were heavily drunk and decided to go for a jolly ride, said the police. <br /><br />It was around 1.30 am when the four left on two bikes. Anijit was riding one of the bikes with Ankit on the pillion, while Shashwat was riding the other bike, with Anand as the pillion rider. Neither Anijit nor Shashwat wore helmets, added the police. <br /><br />Shashwat was following Anijit during the ride. They had moved past the PES Institute of Technology and entered the 100 feet ring road where they came across a road hump near Pallavi Dhaba. <br /><br />Anijit, who was speeding, failed to notice the hump and rammed it. The intensity of the accident was such that Anijit and Ankit were tossed up in the air, and fell on the bike which was dragged on the road for about 25 metres, the police said. <br /><br />Ankit was killed on the spot while Anijit sustained massive head injuries. He was taken to Nimhans where doctors declared him dead on arrival, the police said. Shashwat lost control of the vehicle, collided with the hump and fell off the bike, along with Anand, they added. <br /><br />Anand escaped with minor injuries while Shashwat injured his hands and legs. They too were taken to the hospital. Ankit’s body was moved to the KIMS for post-mortem. The parents have been alerted and are rushing to Bangalore, said the police. <br /><br />Ankit had been staying in a paying guest accommodation in KS Layout, while the other three stayed at the college hostel in the same locality. <br /><br />Anijit hailed from Jharkhand and his father works with Allahabad Bank in Delhi. Ankit was a native of Delhi. Shashwat hails from Delhi, while Anand Gupta is from Patna, added the police. <br /></p>
