The State government on Friday announced a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh for Vikas Gowda and Rs 15 lakh for Prakash Nanjappa for winning the gold medal in discuss throw and silver medal in 10 m air pistol respectively at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
In a press release, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports K Abhayachandra has congratulated the duo, who hail from Karnataka.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will felicitate the duo at a function to be held in Vidhana Soudha soon, the release stated.
Siddaramaiah spoke to discus thrower Vikas Gowda who won gold medal at Commonwealth Games over phone and congratulated him. He also told him that Karnataka is proud of him.
The chief minister also congratulated Prakash Nanjappa who won silver medal in 10 m Air Pistol.
