Dabang Delhi finally got their act together as they romped to a commanding 46-36 victory over Bengal Warriors in their last home match of the Pro Kabaddi League here at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex on Wednesday.

It was the first win at home for Delhi, who had been languishing at the bottom of the table. The performance catapulted them to fourth place with 13 points from seven matches. Warriors, on the other hand, dropped to sixth place with 10 points from six matches.

Delhi, who were on a three-match losing spree, outplayed Warriors in every department. Delhi’s defenders put up a robust display and raiders complemented their efforts with a series of successful raids.

With the home crowd egging them on, Delhi, boosted by the return of key raiders Kashiling Adake and Surjeet Narwal, ran were all over the Warriors in a flash. Captain Jasmer Singh was exceptional with his tackles and was ably supported by Ravinder Singh, who was adjudged the best defender of the match.  Together they rendered Warriors’ raiders helpless.

Such was the dominance of Delhi, that they entered the break with a 16 point advantage (27-11). They continued unhindered in the second half and even though Warriors managed to rack some points towards the end, it proved to be too little, too late.

“This was our last outing here and we had not won even one match,” said a delighted Kashiling.
