A 28-year-old woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her brother-in-law at east Delhi’s Khazorri Khas on Saturday night.

The victim’s brother who tried to nab the fleeing accused too was attacked by him with an iron rod and seriously injured.

Police said the murderous assault was over a property dispute. Neither the accused, nor his parents who too have been absconding after the alleged murder, had been held till Sunday night.

The victim’s husband has alleged that Aamna was killed in front of their three children and that he got to know of the murder from his eldest son Danish, 9.

Shabbir lived with Aamna, their children, his parents and three other brothers at their own home in Chandu Nagar area of Khazorri Khas. The brothers were involved in a dispute over the house.

At about 9.30 pm on Saturday, Shabbir’s younger brother Munna had an argument with Aamna over some issue related to the house. He allegedly stabbed her five times in front of her two sons and a daughter.

“The children raised an alarm on which Munna fled from the house. But Aamna’s brother Tanveer who was approaching the house stopped him right outside. Munna picked up an iron rod lying nearby and attacked him too,” a police officer told Deccan Herald.

Neighbours soon arrived at the house to find Aamna lying injured on the floor. Police were informed and Aamna was rushed to a hospital where she was declared brought dead by doctors. Tanveer is undergoing treatment.

Shabbir has claimed he was at his job at the time of the murder and that his son told him everything when he returned home. His two other brothers too were away from home at that time. Police are investigating if Aamna’s in-laws were present at the house when the incident took place.

Based on Danish’s statement, police have booked Munna for killing Aamna and attempting to murder Tanveer.
