Vidhana Soudha, the seat of the State legislature, will be recreated in Mysore. It will be recreated using a variety of roses, as a special attraction during the forthcoming Dasara Flower Show, at the Kuppanna Park, the new venue of the flower show from this year.

The replica of the imposing building built in the year 1956, will be built using over one lakh roses. This was decided in a meeting of officials held here on Wednesday, ZP CEO P A Gopal told Deccan Herald.

A joint initiative of Mysore Horticulture Society, and the department of Horticulture, an estimated Rs 10 lakh will be spent on recreating the original building in Neo-Dravidian style. The officials are also exploring the possibilities of seeking sponsorship for the purpose.

20feet tall

The officer said that the floral structure would be 40 ft wide and 20 ft high. Hybrid roses will be used, given its longevity as the structure needs to withstand varying temperatures for a period of 10 days. The roses will be procured from Bangalore, as hybrid roses are locally not available.

It was decided to replicate Vidhana Soudha as, in the recently concluded Independence Day Flower Show held at Lalbagh in Bangalore, Mysore Palace and Jamboo Savari were recreated in flowers. There were also proposals to recreate ‘Gandabherunda’ (the royal insignia of Wadiyars), Doddagadiyara, Agni missile, or a sequence of Lord Krishna's Geethopadesha, but it was eventually decided on Vidhana Soudha, the officer added.

Ever since the concept of special attraction was introduced during flower show five years ago, the florists have successfully recreated Golden throne, 'Aane Gaadi', howdah elephant,  Mahishasura and Nandi (the monolithic idol at Chamundi Hill).
This time around 80,000 plants, flowering and ornamental, will be exhibited at the 11.5 acre land of the total 16 acre land at Kuppanna Park.
