BJP has the edge in Delhi, says survey

Last Updated 06 September 2014, 20:36 IST

The BJP appears to have an edge over other parties if election to the Delhi Assembly were held today, a survey conducted by pollster instaVaani stated.

“If the elections were to be held today, it is likely that many Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) voters will shift towards the BJP,” the survey stated.

In the sample, which covered 714 people, 37 per cent favoured the AAP, while a whopping 55 per cent rooted for the BJP, with a small eight per cent backing the Congress.

It said that the gender and age breakdown suggests that young and middle-aged women prefer the BJP.

“The Congress has lost the faith of the people of Delhi, with the highest support among older men, who prefer to vote as per their habit–but even so, that number is only 15 per cent,” it added.

The survey noted that the AAP seems to have a vote base among a third of the population, that seems to be stable across men and women of all ages.
