BJP's target: 75L members in Karnataka

Last Updated 17 November 2014, 18:43 IST

The BJP aims to enrol a staggering 10 lakh members in the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limits.

Each of the 198 wards in the BBMP will contribute 50,000 members and the state-wide target is to enrol 75 lakh members by March 31, 2015, Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers H N Ananth Kumar said here on Monday after inaugurating the BJP’s enrolment drive.

He hoped the party would cross the one-crore mark in Karnataka.

Kumar spoke about indications that the Congress government in the State was “not too keen” on conducting the BBMP elections set to be held next year.

The minister, who represents Bangalore South in the Lok Sabha, warned that the BJP would launch agitations if the elections were not held on time. He claimed that the law and order had worsened in the State but the government had remained a “mute spectator”.
