<p>During his interaction with the Deccan Herald and Prajavani answering a query Justice Hegde said that he would endorse Justice Kumar’s action.<br /><br />Justice Hegde expressing his concern over the corruption in Judiciary said that the discussion regarding the corruption in judiciary should have started 25 years ago. <br /><br />“The practice since the British regime is that Judges should not have a public life, which at times led to corruption, even they are not supposed to go the media, but until recently Only Justice Shylendrakumar has been an exception, by starting a debate on corruption,” he said.<br /><br />Misuse <br /><br />On his decision to endorse Justice Kumar, he said that there is misuse of contempt power in the Judiciary.<br /><br />He also said that if the debate on corruption had begun 25 years ago, the Indian Judiciary would we would not have been facing such crisis now. <br /><br />When questioned how to handle such incidents, he said that a national Judiciary Council is the need of the hour. <br /><br />“This is because the impeachment to inquire into allegations of corruption against judges has failed,” he said.<br /><br />Citing the example of Justice Ramaswamy, he said “there was a required majority for sought impeachment, but one political party remained neutral and even now many political parties have adopted the same stance.”</p>
