Social Venture Partners chairman and former chairman of Microsoft India Ravi Venkatesan on Tuesday said innovative technologies will widen the gap between conventional business models and policy initiatives.

At a leadership lecture on ‘Innovation — key to leveraging the new business landscape in India’, organised by Swiss-Indian Chamber of Commerce in association with Switzerland Global Enterprise and Consulate General of Switzerland in Bengaluru, Venkatesan said the impact can be mitigated if political and executive elements of the government are aware of these changes.

“There should be a thorough dialogue with business community and government. The business community should give feeds as they are well versed with these changes,” he said. He also cited the importance of the trust factor which is necessary to reduce these differences.

When asked about the next big wave of technological innovation, Venkatesan said mobile and machine learning will impact business more. “The impact of machine learning will handle 70 per cent of works in the factories and other places. Then the important question on how to accommodate this unemployed 70 per cent of humanity,”he said.
