In the wee hours of Christmas Day, 44 persons including four women and a Swiss national were detained for attending a rave party in Gurgaon.

They were held by a joint team of the Delhi Zonal Office of Narcotics Control Bureau and Gurgaon Police. The invite for the party was circulated on Facebook and WhatsApp, and the event organisers were charging an entry fee of Rs 1,000.

Around 10-12 such parties were earlier organised by the event manager. “Information was received by the Narcotics Control Bureau about a rave party planned to be held in Gurgaon till 6 am on Thursday,” said Gurgaon Police Commissioner Navdeep Singh Virk.

The information was shared with Virk by NCB Delhi Zonal Director Rohit Sharma. A joint raiding team was formed of Gurgaon Police and NCB officials. “The rave party organiser had taken several precautions to alert the invitees in case of a police operation. After the raid, 40 men and four women were detained,” Virk added. Narcotic substances were found in their possession.

The recovered narcotic substances include crystal methamphetamine, charas, LSD, hashish, ganja and cocaine.
