Security up at airports in wake of hijack alert

Last Updated 05 January 2015, 03:45 IST

Security around the country’s airports has been stepped up after intelligence agencies warned of a possible hijack attempt.

“Security around all the airports have been strengthened, and we have taken all the measures required,” said official sources in New Delhi on Sunday.

However, in Bengaluru, police said no such alert was sent to them, but security at the international airport had been tightened for the last few weeks.

“There is no alert as such to the Bengaluru City Police. However, there has been heightened security at Kempegowda International Airport for the past few weeks,” DCP (North-East) Vikash Kumar Vikash told Deccan Herald.
