Hampi University former vice chancellor Dr B A Vivek Rai said effective presentation of small roles and team work of ‘Chaali Polilu’ has paid result.

He was speaking after inaugurating the celebrations organised by Jayakirana Films as the movie completed 100 days in three theatres in Mangaluru, at Don Bosco Hall on Friday.

The scholar, who is also known for his popular ‘Ekka Saka’ Tulu song (composed for popular Tulu movie - Koti Chennayya), said several attempts were made to produce quality Tulu movie since 1971 and finally ‘Chaali Polilu’ has succeeded to maintain the quality and it can be dubbed into other languages. The movie is a combination of seriousness and humour, where humour reflects the nature of Tuluvas. It also represents creativity, he said.

‘Chaali Polilu,’ produced by Prakash Pandeshwar and directed by Veerendra Shetty Kavoor, has completed hundred days in Jyothi, Big Cinemas and PVR of Mangaluru. The movie, which was released in 19 theatres simultaneously, has completed 2,886 shows. The movie has also completed 100 days in three multiplexes and 75 days in another five. Director Veerendra Shetty Kavoor attributed the success to all. “After post production of work, the team was confident of the success of the movie. However, there are many movies which flopped even after good production. So, we are thankful to the support of the viewers,” he said.

Actor Devdas Kapikad was happy as Tulu scholars like Dr B A Vivek Rai also appreciated the movie. The movie provided opportunity to budding artists and to work with great actors. Now, just like Yakshagana, there are fans for Tulu movie as well, he said. Mementoes were given to the team members.
