Indian Coast Guard officer B K Loshali, who was at the centre of a storm due to his controversial comments on the sinking of a Pakistani boat in the Arabian Sea, has been removed from his post and attached to another Coast Guard unit in Gandhinagar for  the board of enquiry to commence work.

The official investigation against the former chief of staff at the Coast Guard’s Northwest region is set to start after his written explanation failed to satisfy the Defence Ministry.

“If someone makes an incorrect statement, you can make a case of disciplinary action. I will order an inquiry and take action against the person after the inquiry,” an enraged Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said last week, when Loshali’s controversial statement hit the headlines.

Going against the government's stand, the Coast Guard officer took the credit for blowing up the suspected Pakistani boat that was to undertake some “illicit transaction” in the Arabian Sea. In a video, he was seen boasting about the operation to an audience.
