No vehicle will be allowed to move on the highway in the opposite direction," a senior traffic police officer told IANS here.<br /><br />More than 4,000 people were stranded in Jammu for the last five days due to the closure of the highway.<br /><br />The 300km long road was closed due to landslides triggered by heavy downpour in the Ramban district of Jammu region on Monday.<br /><br />The highway is the lifeline of the landlocked Kashmir Valley as all supplies of the essentials of life are routed through the road.<br /><br />The air ticket rates from Jammu to Srinagar touched an unprecedented high because of the highway closure.<br /><br />Air tickets from Jammu to Srinagar which normally range between Rs.2,000-3,000 per passenger shot up to Rs.20,000 on Friday.<br /></p>
