<p>The Lokayukta police have arrested a constable attached to HAL police station while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a driver, on behalf of two other policemen. <br /><br />According to the driver, who filed a complaint with the Lokayukta police, the policemen forcibly took his vehicle on April 29 stating that a complaint of attempt to rape had been lodged against him.<br /><br /> They also snatched the vehicle documents and threatened to implicate the driver <br />in a false case.<br /><br /> Later, the policemen demanded Rs 50,000 from him for releasing the vehicle. No case was registered against the complainant at HAL <br />police station.</p>.<p>The driver was not willing to pay the bribe and lodged a complaint with Bengaluru city Lokayukta police.<br /><br /> A case was registered against the officials and a trap was laid, the police said.<br /><br />Others absconding<br /><br />Constable Thimmappa Raju was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from the complainant. He has been arrested. The other two policemen - sub-inspector Guruprasad and constable Hemanth are absconding, Lokayukta police said. <br /></p>
